I see. So, since my "frown" was obviously misdirected at you, Werner, I
think I owe you an apology.
But please let me re-phrase: Those rules seem to deny

Yes, these options do the trick:
--options
--keyring
--secret-keyring
--no-default-keyring

--no-secmem-warning --charset utf-8 --import {} \;
That way, gpg is called for each .asc file separately. Might be
slower, I don't know.

haven't found any option to do this in the man-page. And while I'm at

Or are you looking for v1.4.2? At the moment, there is only a release

it until a final is released.
Shouldn't be a big deal, v1.4.1 is just fine.

Yes, as long as your key requires the use of IDEA-encryption,
everybody who's trying to encrypt to you has to use an IDEA-enabled
client. In the case og gnupg that means that one has to compile in
idea.c or use idea.dll (on windows).

And then you'll probably want to use this one as well:
--no-default-keyring
Detailed explanations about these options are given in the manpage.

There may
even be valid reasons to split the two "roles".
Since UIDs are attached to the primary key and the primary key is the
only one that can modify UIDs (and signing a key is all about UIDs)
