decryption. You can check this by looking at your secret keyring:
gpg2 -K
sec# 4096R/DEADBEEF 2013-10-25 [expires: 2018-10-24]
uid Some Body

I wasn't able to extend the validity of my gpg key, because instead of
promting me with the passphase request I got this error:
but I've a private key, and I'm able both to sign and decrypt.
