I switched recently from Linux Mint 22 to LMDE6.
In Linux Mint 22 I used the version 1:5.5-1.2build1 from ubuntu noble/universe
without problems.
In LMDE6 the version was 1:4.13-1 from bookworm (debian).
When I started GNUCASH in LMDE6 I received the following: "No suitable module found

I also use GnuCash in MX-23 Linux based on bookworm (debian). GNC was 5.9.
Last week, I had to re-install MX-23, When I finally got GNC installed
machine and then open it with the File->Open dialogue.
If what I suspect is the problem you should be able to open it.
