Ok David so what are you changing on your template that you want to update
to your already created txns ? Is it just a changed amount, are you adding
further splits, making significant changes ?

Dear GnuCash team,
I would like to know when you will create the Windows x64 release builds?
We are in 2024, x64 is here since Windows XP Pro.
The goal is to have like other softwares, a x64 version in more x86.
Thanks in advance.

I'm not part of the team, but I am a software engineer, and I've done
conversion to 64-bits. In the best case, it's just a matter of
re-compiling... but that's never worked except for very small programs.
All of the libraries used must have 64-bit versions, and then each call to
the library needs t

The OP referenced an adjustment for inflation, so it seems like simply
upping various amounts.
Hence my suggestion to leave the template with the current amounts, and
add a variable multiplier which will be prompted by GnuCash.
But that suggestion didn't take into account creating transaction
Fair enough. We need a new term for one of these things. It is a
repeated source of confusion & consternation.

A "simple journal entry" is a journal entry that involves no more than two
accounts.
A "compound journal entry" is a journal entry that involves more than two

That's the 'easy' part.

both, that only impact tw
Don't forget, changing "split" to a "new term" would mean program
changes. When I click on a line within a transaction and then click the
delete icon, a popup asks whether I want to delete "the split". And that
happens whether there are two splits in the transaction or more than two.

The Gnucash community has had this discussion many times in the past. My
recollection is that the following terminology is accepted:
* Each line is a "split," and thus a basic transaction has two such splits.
* A transaction with more than two splits is referred to as a multi-split
transaction.
FWIW: How about "Simple transactions" (with one debit & one credit) and
"Compound transactions" (those with more than one debit or more than one
credit)?

Ah yes, another case of 'split' and I have lots of those!

For the record, Transaction Journal view shows each debit and credit and
the Memos for each.
Double-Line shows the Notes field and is independent of Transaction
Journal view.

That is how I currently understand it.
When I use 'a split' I mean a single debit or credit.
When I use 'split transaction' I mean a transaction that has 3 or more
combined debits/credits.

Yes, this is an example where it isn't just the terminology of users,
but rather that the UI uses the term 'split' for two different meanings.
I too have memo transactions with only one split and no value.

I suspect it is fair to say that the UI design results in different uses of the

There is a known bug with reports in GnuCash version 5.5 on a Windows machine.
The bug is well-understood, but the fix is not so easy.
Moving down to 5.4 will fix the report problem.

An x64 build will work only on 64-bit PCs, a 32-bit build works on both.
Windows 11 doesn't support 32-bit and Windows 10, which does support 32-bit

But, as R Losey pointed out, that would take considerable development
