I ran GC 3.11 under Windows again, this time with the --debug argument, and
then ran "Check & Repair All" in the hope of getting some useful information
in the logfile.
Again, GC crashed after about half an hour, but the logfile contains neither
errors nor warnings. The Windows event log show t
The Check & Repair is to be done after each major version upgrade.
Since you're getting a crash, (on more than one data file?) I'd
recommend obtaining the output the devs are looking for using the links

Thanks for all the references, particularly for reminding me to check the trace

I'm not an expert, but I'm pretty sure the price db doesn't have splits; it's
just a list of commodities, prices, and dates (asking with some other
housekeeping info).
I believe that "113 of 304" is in reference to the splits within a given
account, so you'd need to know which account might hav

This might be the bug that I had hit in 4.8 of GNC which might had been
carried forward since 3.11 and prior when performing "Check & Repair" (yah,

There's not much point in filing a bug report for a crash in 3.11. Install 4.11

easier under Linux than Windows) and file a bug on that. If

is causing the crash it isn't a price entry.

Do any of the included reports show only the closing balances of selected
accounts without the transaction details with each month's ending balance
appearing in seperate columns side by side?

Hi,
My financial situation has recently changed so that many of the accounts
in my current gnucash file are not relevant any more. I want to start a
new gnucash file with just a few of the accounts from the old one and
then add new ones.
I thought I could just copy the old gnucash file to a
Hi all,
I've got a transaction I can not work out how it should be handed.
I have 10 shares in Company A, and it was restructured/converted to 6
shares in Company B. There is no capital return/dividend etc. It's a
straight conversion 10:6, with the company name being changed as well.

Joseph,
Under the File menu there are some interesting Export options. You might
try those and import back into a new data file and see what happens.

When you are trying to extend the over-simplified formula you need to add
terms for income expense and retained income to name a few. I do not know
the name of a good reference to help you.

A Budget Report can do that. Not certain if you need a budget set up,
but I don't think so. Include only the 'actual' column(s).
I think there is also an experimental multi-period P&L (Income
