Hi
If you've done a lot of work setting up various accounts and you want to
preserve that work the following is a way of doing that:

I am trying it, it looks like a great trick.
It defaulted to 2020 and I picked my own bank a/c, but when I tried to
change the dates in the options I got nothing.

HI,
You can simplify this by just doing: File -> Export -> Export Accounts
and then File -> Open the new file. There is no need to go into CSV
format if you're importing it back into GnuCash.
Note that this *ONLY* exports the account tree; if you have business

Derek already explained the errors, but for completeness and future
reference:
Simply type `gnucash` at the command line. You may see some messages
there which might be helpful, otherwise see the wiki about where the
tracefile is stored on your system.

On 10/28/20 11:16 AM,
I am using GnuCash 4.2 with the option to reverse the balance of credit
accounts (such as Liability) activated. In the ledger of such an account,
GnuCash calculates the balance in the expected manner: Debit transactions
decrease the balance.
When I create a report of such an account using the R
Please specify the report.
I just tried a Transaction Report on my AP account and it works properly.

Thank you Derek!

Thank you very much for your answer and sorry for the confusion. I can
confirm that the Transaction Report handles the Debit and Credit values
in the same way the ledger does.
My question was related to the Account Report. When I open an account
ledger and use the Reports menu to generate an Accou
I just starting moving from gnucash-3.11 to 4.2. The animations in report
charts and graphs are a little cute the first time you see them, but get
annoying (to me) very quickly. Is there any way to turn them off?

Okay I tried these:
Liabilities:AP
1. Open register
2. Reports > Account Report
Result - this generated an AP Aging Report, not the usual 'Account

2. Reports > Transaction Report
Works as expected

You'll probably have to export one first and then open with a text
editor to find the proper
Chartjs animation uses its own options mechanism to disable animation. The
animation will be removed in 4.3 onwards. There's no plan to introduce an
option to reenable animation.

All right, thank you for giving it a try. I will use a Transaction Report
instead.
For the sake of completeness, however, I have also filed a bug:
