Hi Chris,
Don’t create accounts under Equity. Create your savings and current account
under Assets. Then enter your opening balances as Stan Brown describes.

I have installed the GnuCash 4.1 software in a Windows 7 x64

I'm been playing with MX-LINUX (Debian Buster Based) because it has a
splendid live USB system. Thanks to John's comments I've learned about
holding (and a little about pinning) a package.
I did a new install. But this time installed the version 63 icu-devtools
and libicu-dev packages, "held" them

I'm feeling my way with these PCC accounts but I do feel as if GnuCash
will do quite well for me.
Anyway, next silly question, two of our income streams are
'Collections in services' and 'Offertory Box'. These are (currently)
recorded separately in the accounts but get paid into the bank
together

In the latest version of gnucash (4.1-2 from flathub) I noticed that, when
importing transactions in .ofx/.csv into a GBP-denominated bank account, and
matching them to expense accounts in EUR, I get the following error message:
The account 'Electronics' has a different commodity from the one re

Chris, I would also recommend asking why the amounts are separated, because
there may be a reason for reporting the income lines separately. Then if
the reason no longer applies you may ask what reporting is now required.

This has come up before. As I understand it, this is a problem with Windows and
some applications. Past threads on this suggested a registry edit, among other
solutions.
I'll note that Windows 7 is no longer actively supported, which means that it
might not be the best choice at this time to p

Yes, View > Transaction Journal
Now all transactions in that register will always show all splits. It is
not only helpful when learning GnuCash, but I use it exclusively because
I don't want to have to click each transaction to see the splits. Less
clicking, more visual inspection. The layout
