Been using Gnucash for years. Tried to open today and got the message that it
couldn’t find the file and it opened to a new, blank slate. What do I do to
recover?

tell us which version of GnuCash you have and your computer operating

I upgraded my macbook pro from High Sierra 10.13.6 to Catalina 10.15.6. Now
when I go to applications and click on "Gnucash", nothing happens. How can
I get gnucash to work again? Any ideas?

Yes, of course.
Create Liabilities ABC account
then edit each of Liabilities A, .. etc and change the parent.

Do you know the name of your data file? If you don't know the name/path,

files and am always switching between them. I have always used the Open... menu

However, it doesn't work on Mac OS, Linux (and apparently Windows) easily allow
running multiple copies of a program. Mac OS tries to just allow one instance.
You can start two instances of a program from the terminal. But with Gnucash,

I enabled this new option in 4.1 and now I can't find it to turn it back off.
The bug report doesn't say where it's located.
Could someone give me a hint on where to find it please.

Reading the bug report I'm not sure that there is an option, I can't find
one either in any of my preferences. You thought you'd explicitly enabled
it somehow ? To be honest I preferred the previous behaviour where the new
tab got added last but it seems 4.1 just opens it next to my COA as I
