Hi all,
(Full bug report below)
I am having a PDF issue trying to upgrade from 3.7 to 4.0, but traced the
problem back to 3.8. The invoice PDFs generated using "Make PDF" have a
superfluous blank page. I first thought the problem may be with my heavily
customized CSS, but I was able to reproduce
Nice to hear that it's fixable. The pricedb entries have unreasonable
precision and was fixed a few months ago, but existing entries remain. This
is still a worthwhile bug to fix.

Ditto on Mac OS 10.15.5. Opened without issues.
The first time it asked for the standard permission to open since it didn't
come from the App Store.
But it didn't open.
Then I opened it again and it was fine.

Thanks, we know about that. We've briefly discussed setting up code signing on
Windows but haven't done anything about it as getting a suitable certificate is
more involved than it is with Apple.

That's unfortunately a pretty common user experience on Mac. I haven't been
able to figure out where is the disconnect between Launch Services and GnuCash
after Gatekeeper verification is complete. Gatekeeper also fails to remove the
com.apple.quarantine xattr from the app bundle and that caused
Hello all,
Congrats on the 4.0 release. Just installed and I'm looking forward to
setting column width defaults and have them apply across the register

Yes, as I explained to David yesterday we decided that that feature needed a
re-think for the general registers. The primary motivation was to be able to
make layout changes sticky for Bills, Invoices, and Vouchers so we limited it

I can confirm this on 3.906 (4.0 beta) using various methods of printing
invoices. (it doesn’t seem to matter if it is ‘easy’ invoice or not)
I also tried exporting to HTML and then printing to PDF, but that too generates
an extra page.

Hi,
The 4.0.1 release notes say:

When I attached a file to a registry entry, I didn't see the symbol, so I

I am trying to try/use Gnucash 4.0 using Flatpak build. However, the
most recent available version in Flathub is 3.11-1 (2020-06-27).

current stable version (4.0) is available through Flathub but that is is

First a big thank you to everyone involved in the effort to bring about the v4

Normally works for me just doing steps 4, 5, 6 :-)

I don't think that you're doing anything wrong. GnuCash tries to read files
with SQLite3 first then falls back to XML.

Thanks, the merge from beta didn't pick up that it needs the swig module. I've
fixed that and started a new build.

Not necessary as Preview.app (included with MacOS) allows you to delete any
selected page. (among many other edits possible)
But it shouldn’t be happening in the first place.

Hi Adrien,
After speaking to you the last time, I tried exporting documents (ie.

That’s probably a different issue entirely.
I just ran the General Ledger Report, and used both ‘Export' (which is HTML)
and ‘Make PDF’ both of which worked fine without extra blank pages. (I’m now on
3.906 on MacOS 10.15.5) I haven’t yet jumped to 4.x but will tonight. I’ll see

Agreed, it absolutely should. Alton's theory was that something about
having both installed was confusing something. All I know if it didn't
work until I deleted my old installation.

Thanks for releasing V4.0.
Just upgraded it from V3.9 in Windows 10. When I opened GNC files from File

my directories.
I usually do it well in V3.9.

Hi All,
I'm sure it's somewhere that I'm overlooking, but I can't find where to turn
off the reconcile window that opens automatically when importing an OFX file. I

There's a check box on the matching dialog (bottom right) that's
normally cleared, where you can select whether to run the reconciliation
or not.
If the checkbox is cleared and it's still running the reconciliation
then that's a bug.

I just checked. For me, if the check box isn't checked, I don't get the
reconciliation dialog.
The check box is at the bottom right of the transaction matching dialog
(the one that opens after you select the OFX file).

To clarify:
For anyone not on MacOS, (or on a system that doesn’t support that emoji block
of characters) you should be able to see the symbols (paper clip icon for
single associations, and chain-link/URL icon for location associations) but
only if you have View > Double Line mode turned on.

I have:
Gnucash-2.6.1-1
Gnucash-3.0-1
Gnucash-3.4
Gnucash-3.10
Gnucash-4.0
All installed and 4.0.2 works without deleting any of them. Mac OS 10.15.5. For
whatever that is worth.

Hi John,
Thank you for response.
Open the program, File Explorer, then find the .gnucash file and open it by
double click. This shows error message as I mentioned below.
It's working well to open the file from GNC File>Open.
Thanks,
