Hello!
My installation of Gnucash works perfectly. Accounts are reconciled. But
all balances shown in accounts page( also at the bottom of each account
when I open them to post transactions) are prefixed with "?" symbol.
Any idea what is the meaning of this?
Thanks in advance

That usually means that the currency you are using does not have a character in
the display font. Check your currency, try a different font, and report back.

P.s. When you report back, do let us know what OS you are using, what Gnucash
version you are using, and what your locale is.

I want to generate a report of:
All the expenses for 2 subaccounts and their subaccounts of Expenses. I
want the report for all of 2019 and I don't want the matching transfer
accounts.
What Report type do you suggest I use? There are too many to try them all.
Thank you,
Joe

I'm trying to figure out how GNU Cash deals with classes but can't find
much. I have a business (LLC) that has multiple revenue streams, so
multiple businesses under 1 LLC. While not strictly required, I'd like to
be able to generate a report on the expenses vs revenue of each
revenue stream. The g

AFAIK there is no equivalent of classes.
In Gnucash you can use the sub-account capability to provide the separation.
e.g. Under Income you can have a subaccount for each revenue stream and
similarly under Expenses if you need to match expenses to a particular
revenue stream. You could also
David,
Thank you for your reply. I figured that feature might have not been
available. Your solution does make sense though and that's the way I think
I'll go. The reporting options seem to make it decently easy to work around
the lack of classes.
Thanks again

The naming may be unique, but the idea and use of the account is not unorthodox.
Some businesses track “Cash Over/Short” as a miscellaneous expense and that is
a good place to put rounding and some other errors.

That's an interesting perspective I didn't consider.
How would this look from the LLC's perspective. Would each sub-entity just
send over it's rolled up expenses and income?
I do like that idea though... just need to work out in my mind how it would
work since we're so wrapped together right now.
