Interestingly I opened the html report in Libreoffice Calc directly and
it had the decimal not the fraction. Didn't even need to put the "=" in
front of it. So thanks John for your suggestion. I'll use it as a work
around. Bit of formatting to do but minor issue.

Well, it seems odd to me that "Double" display (as Adrien noted)(thank
you, Adrien!) is able to display the figures as the user prefers. It is
also odd to me that the report knows to switch the values of the
individual transactions, but is unable to remember that fact when it
comes to the total
I don't see any open bugs about this so please file one.

I have searched, looked, and read what I could find about journal entries in

On the second line, Debit Drugs for the amount.
That should do it.

I'm not sure how this is a challenge, especially since both John and
David C. pointed you in the right direction in the docs. Perhaps you are
associating the term "Journal entry" with something special?
To begin, set your View preference to "Basic" and on the

Hello,
The attached screen shot shows three iterations of a standard Piechart.
Each has its own set of accounts and slices, but each is set to plot its
chart to the same 485 by 240 dimensions--and yet, each one is clearly a
different size! While the first is an Expense piechart, I believe that

I think Frank is on the right track. The original poster is coming from

This is also similar to NetSuite, which is an on-line double entry

Hi All,
I've been using GnuCash for several years now, tolerating the bugs and

I agree, the FAQ example is incorrect. It doesn’t reverse the sign of

Even if that were a contra-income account, it would still normally have a debit

The same goes for using the ‘Credit Accounts’ setting.

I could understand why a chart with more slices might default to a larger size,
but it appears the bottom two charts both have 3 slices, yet are different
sizes.
However, since they are set to all be the same size, they should all be the

Thank you for your interest. The first day of the week is, of course, a

John,
Thanks for the insights.
How does first day of the week affect reports in GnuCash? The only report I can
think of that might be an issue is the Expenses/Income vs. Day of the week, but
each day is reported separately, though Sunday is listed first in the key, it
is a pie chart. All other

I didn't see it and fear, you should complain at the GTK team.

From that page it seems that they didn’t provide a means for setting first day
of the week.
A cursory search of how to set first day of the week to Monday using Gnome
(Ubuntu forums) explained to edit the /usr/share/i18n/locales file for your
locale and either edit or add the line:

Hi Guys,
I'm having a problem figuring out how to move the vertical lines

Any tab open when you exit should be re-loaded when you next open GnuCash.
So just have the Cash account register open when you close the app.

Running ver 3.6 now but one of the prior versions allowed me to use my mouse
scroll wheel to cycle through the open tabs. I can no longer do that, so I
have reverted to putting the tabs on the left side instead of across the top

James,
Keep in mind that in the register view the description column is a special
case that essentially defaults to use all the space that is not explicitly
given to other columns.
This means setting the other widths first, then dragging the right edge of
the description column title box leftward
Rick,
Do you keep the mouse pointer over the the tab area when scrolling?

Hi Ken,
Thanks for thinking about my little problem. However, I don't see how this
would help. The regular Mac interface gives me the option to change the start
of the week from the locale's default. GnuCash should be reading that change
like all the other date-aware applications. It does not.
Hi Frank,
Thank you for thinking about my little problem.
I don't understand why we would assume this is a bug in GTK. If GnuCash tells
GTK to create a calendar with Sundays as the first day of the week, it should
obey. The problem is that some code is not looking at the locale setting on my

Maybe I'm being thick here, but it's still not easy. We need to start with
the knowledge that *internally* income amounts are negative -- after all
they usually balance with positive asset amounts. Also, liability amounts
are also internally negative, but no one seems to have a problem with that.

I tried it today on Debian.
I have set up some accounts as Liabilities and want to change them to Income.
This can’t be done by deleting the accounts and transferring the transactions
to another account because only Liability Accounts are offered as alternative
destinations.
I would like to export the transactions to CSV,
