understand. I tried to enter "gtk-query-settings theme” into the terminal

1. I have the latest Google Pixel Chromebook which does support the Linux

You have downloaded the source files, to build the software from source is
not a trivial task. Do you definitely need 3.3? If not then try selecting
the Distribution Version and see what that gives you.

Looks like Croutini installs a Debian container by default, so if you
search debian.org for gnucash and sid (the cutting edge, unstable Debian
release) you find gnucash 3.3 [1], or you can find version 2.6 in the
stable branch [2]. Near the bottom of those pages are links to download

Can you run `su`?
It will ask for the root password and give you a root shell from which you can
run the apt
Did you read the link I sent?
It explains you might have to *first* set your Chromebook to either the Beta or
Dev channels. (be sure to make a backup as if you want to revert to Stable,
you’ll have to wipe the machine)
This might be why it isn’t working, unless John’s suggestion is successful.
Ideally, one should be able to choose a repository with a more up to date
version so you don’t have to build. (such as sid)
If I had the hardware to test, I’d go through the build and add the recipe to
the wiki, but alas...(anyone?)
But note, you can install flatpak and use that version as well

Maybe Geert does know ;-) if gnucash use the gtk defaults then maybe it does
not exist or need to. This is not really not a problem if I can modify the
bits that concern me. I don't need to know what I don't need to know.
My main interest in modifying the layout and colors in gnucash 3.3 is
I've noticed this oddity as well. Seems to me one of the buttons needs to be
removed. I'd vote for the OK button, with the understanding that the next
button would be fixed.
