At least most of the predefined check formats use the transactions Notes field
as the source for a check memo. The Notes field can only be seen if you are in
Double Line view mode in the register for the account associated with the
checks. View menu > Double Line.

Someone more familiar with printing checks will hopefully chime in, but
I seem to recall a recent thread where it was noted that if your
Vendor/Employee/Customer 'payee' is already set up with name and
address, *and* you try to 'Print Checks' with the existing transaction
selected, GnuCash *sho
If you’re on Win10 it includes a PDF virtual printer. (they’ve had a virtual
XPS printer for a decade or more and finally gave up the fight over formats)
However, you might have to enable it (Turn Windows Features On and Off) and
then add it as a printer in Devices > Printers & Scanners.

select "print to file" appears on the printer selection menu along with
the other printers configured for the system. Selecting "print to
file" then opens another dialog where I can specify output as .
