Richard, Many of us are using Gnucash for quite elaborate financial situations, so your fear that it can only handle "simple household transactions" is misplaced. Every transaction in Gnucash can be edited, so you need to explain to us what you tried to do that wasn't working. Opening balances,

Did you check the transactions as you imported them to weed out duplicates and correct errors? If not, I would suggest starting over to get at least reasonably close to a good starting point. You should not need to delete obsolete accounts as they should go to zero after all transactions are ente
