Well, this is embarrassing. Turns out there was an Interest Charge dialog
box on a display that I had turned off. So upgrading to 2.6.18 fixed the
crash, and there was no freeze. Thanks for your help!

of the splash screen to see if it changes every now and then? It can take
several minutes with some files.
