I could not find any transaction before 1st April 2009 with the approach
you said.
I use Gnucash to record only personal finance.
If it helps, it always informs me that there is a lock and when I choose
open anyway, it crashes with the error that I mentioned in the above

Another user tracked down the cause of that exception in his file to a bad
date, 206-01-02; it should have been 2016-01-02. In his case the error was in

I am having similar issues as well.
Setup file : Gnucash-Intel-3.0-1.dmg
MacOs : 10.13.3
I tried to execute Gnucash from terminal.
I get the following error.
