That’s between you and your auditors, but as a general statement GnuCash lacks
the administrative controls that would make it acceptable to most auditors.

Following GAAP is your decision. It is certainly possible with GnuCash but it
does not force it on you. (It is used worldwide, in places where other
standards might be required so it has to be flexible to allow for them)
