In a trading account, use the arrow keys to get to a specific transaction.
Left Click on Show Splits at the top of the screen.
Try to left click on one of the splits.
That closes the transaction.

So, a search for GM only finds the trading account.
I was trying to get to the asset account via the trading account.
This is GnuCash 5.10 on Fedora Linux 41.

To get the best advice please tell us the version of GnuCash and the
operating system of your computer.
In addition, in this case what is the complete sequence to get to Show
Splits, since that is not on the menu in a regular account register.
I do not use trading accounts so I cannot help
