Saw another thread about GnuCash version not sorting properly in
Windows. Note that winget in Powershell (Win10/11) and Terminal (Win11)
does retrieve the correct version a week or three after release. It's
been upgrading 5.9 to 5.10 for me in various computers over the past
week. At the PS or

Yeah, but the problem isn’t on ‘nix, it’s on Windows and specifically in
PowerShell.

Look --- it is NOT hard (using bash or whatever 'nix shell you prefer)
to convert a string (whose characters represent a number) to a number.
LOL, these days you can even look up how on the web.
"10" is a string representing the number ten. It is not the NUMBER ten.
Look up what the bash opera
There is a *nix command, "sort" in which one can specify to sort
numerically, and provide the columns...
I was puzzled when I first encountered GnuCash because I thought 5.10 was
much earlier version than 5.9 (5.90).
One "solution" would be to use leading zeroes... 5.01, 5.02, 5.03 instead
of 5.1
Description of solution:
You have strings with format Vm.n.o where m,n, and o are alphameric
expressions of a number.
Convert these strings to format Vx.y.z where x, y, and z are numeric
expressions numbers (one byte length will be plenty if binary, two if
BCD))

My fellow PCLinuxOS users would like to thank the team
for the latest version of Gnucash (as a user, I have been
using Gnucash since a very, very early version).
I really appreciate the work & effort the GnuCash team
puts in. I just wish my Bank would embrace OFX (export)
