[GNC] Can I enter URL links on the Accounts Tree Page?

2022-06-08 Thread viking2ev
Can I enter URL links on the Accounts Tree Page? Best would be in the Notes field for each account. Clicking on the link would bring me to the financial institution homepage, to a stock or mutual fund page etc. I think that this is currently not possible..? (I can of course add the URL to the Not

[GNC] How to train your GnuCash (before CSV transaction import) - but why?

2022-06-08 Thread viking2ev
I am trying to import several hundred transactions from several CSV files. Each CSV file will be imported to one Bank account and each file has a column with the Transfer Account for each Transaction; e.g. Another Bank, Salary, Interest etc (using the full account names). In the CSV importer, I se

@Gyle, The suggested approach may work well when entering the transactions manually and then reconciling. However, I am not entering the transactions manually. I am importing all the bank transactions, including the transfers, from several CSV files to an empty GnuCash file. From: Gyle McC

@David, If I use an intermediary “Funds in Transit account”, wouldn’t I run into the same issue when importing bank1? It would match the original transfer date of bank2 in the “Funds in Transit account”. I would need to force it to not match. A disadvantage of using a “Funds in Transit accou

I am sorry David. I hit “reply” when I should have hit “reply all”, right? I sent the previous mail to the group as well. I am importing because I am trying to create a new GnuCash file with a lot of transactions from different financial institutions; all of them are in CSV (xls). When done, I

[GNC] Transfer Dates

2022-06-05 Thread viking2ev
I have transferred money back and forth between bank1 and bank2. 1. I first imported my transactions from bank2. 2. I then imported my transactions from bank1. The transfers between the accounts are matched and are therefore not imported to bank1 (as expected). However, the dates of the transf

@Geert, You are correct, "10 550,50" imports fine. However my CSV file also has a currency symbol at the end (e.g. "10 550,50 USD"), and the imported numbers are then incorrect. I wish that Gnucash would ignore the text in the amounts! I assume that there is no option for this? From: Geert J

[GNC] Setting Currency Format when importing from CSV?

2022-05-09 Thread viking2ev
The CSV Transaction Importer only has 3 options for currency format: Locale, Comma and Period. Is there some way to change it to something else? For example in the CSV file, I have "10 550,50" which would translate to "10,500.50" (in the US). Can I make GnuCash translate this properly? _
