like OP i keep paper copies but i sort them some papers you want to
keep for longer (real estate etc) but some like pay stubs you don't
(especially if you get paper copy that shows the whole year. and of
course the amount of paper depends on the complexity of your holdings/
taxes/ business.

if you want to know what is purchase price and what is sell you can also
set up child accounts that contain only that info and if you want a
child account to register the appreciation/ depreciation. it's a bit
complicated but ultimately you can then do the transaction reports for the

what are the accounts you have set up in assets? it sounds like you only
have your equity balance. in my asset section, i have all my bank accounts,
petty cash, etc. as well. and i have separate accounts for each of my

hi everyone
i've been struggling with my transaction reports and can't easily figure
out how to fix things, so i thought i could install gnu cash again and
simply start over (probably a good idea anyway as it's been years on the
old file). it's a year when i feel many things could bear with a fres
t code as that seems to be the area at issue.

hi all
i'm using gnu cash 4.2 on my mac ventura 13.0, and can't create a
transaction report (which i've done many times before today).
i'm trying to create a report for 2021.
i start the process (reports, transaction reports) then go into options to
select accounts, type of report, date etc.).

i upgraded my mac os (to mojave) and now i have to upgrade gnucash. i've
downloaded it, clicked on file got the app but can't get further.
is there any way to upgrade the current app (which i now cannot open)? if
not how to get the 2nd app to install? i click on new app, asks if i trust,
i say yes
since i have a lot of irrelevant transactions in my account, i prepare
reports that affect my taxes. i have a couple of businesses so i like to
separate them from each other. then i save the reports as pdf files and
send those to my accountant with any cover letter/ extra info.

this happens on my mac too. it's very annoying. i have done the suggestions
others have offered but they are time consuming and a report should break
between lines. i've tried exporting into numbers or excel and then i have
to fiddle with the columns. i've tried shrinking the amount and sometimes
