I am deeply indebted to you. This was the key to my dilemma: "My bank accounts
are under Assets-Current Assets;". I clicked on the Bank Account name under
Current Assets, and there they came.

I have just replaced a computer of long time usage. Data files have
been transferred. GnuCash has been reinstalled. All the accounts
appear to be intact.
