What works for me:

that, the hidden accounts are excludes from the drop-down list when selecting
accounts for transfers

It took a while to figure out why yahoo_json didn't work. When trying to fetch
the cookie from fc.yahoo.com the response was 'connection refused', also when
trying to connect via browser. In the end it turned out that pihole blocked
fc.yahoo.com. Once I added fc.yahoo.com to the whitelist in pih

Hi,
I run gnucash 4.5 on ArchLinux and compile gnucash from the sources. Yesterday
I wanted to upgrade/install gnucash 4.8 by:
cmake -D CMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX=/home/klaus -G Ninja ..
ninja
ninja install
All went smoothly, but when starting gnucash, the warning/error came up: no

Hi Dan,
I prefer to save my data at the end of the day resp. at logout. The
.bash_logout script copies the gnucash file(s) to an NFS directory offered by a
a raspberrypi-type computer serving as back-up server. Thus, the main
gnucash-file(s) remains as-is and the up-to-date backup is on another
Alternative is to use a database (mysql, postgres, SQLite) and e.g. libreoffice
as GUI frontend for reporting/dataretrieval. Clearly, still some basic SQL know
might be required.
Cheers,
Klaus

Hi Wolfgang,
I have modeled a comparable plan as follows: first of all, I record my salary
only net. Salary is what is posted to my bank account after all deductions.
I you don't participate in such plan, posting is straight forward, e.g.:
Bank <-> Income:salary -> 1000
If you participate in the
I use gnucash on Archlinux compiling by myself. After the last upgrade gnucash
stopped working due a missing libicuuc-version ...so.59.

I use gnucash on linux with postgres as the database. Usually, I
shutdown/switch-off my PC during night time. I have a shutdown script that a)
dumps all databases do a second harddrive and then b) copies them to an USB
stick attached to a raspberrypi in the network. If someone doesn't switch off
