They're enabled, but don't actually get recorded. The only change was that I told it NOT to tell me after creating the transactions. And now it just doesn't bother doing them at all. That's not much use. I'm using 5.9 for Windows 10. What am I missing here? Thanks again!     Ed -- Are you

From memory the description column is a special case. I usually get all my other columns just the width I want them and if everything is too wide I then drag the RIGHT HAND end of the Description column  back to the left a bit and let it go - it then adjusts to fill the available space. Yes,

Ed, have you tried double clicking in the headers of the too narrow columns? Praise the Lord, that helps a great deal. Now I can use it again :) There's still a UI bug to fix, but this is a great workaround. Thanks for that nugget, much appreciated! Ed __
