When I try to open Gnucash I get the message that it cannot find the Lock
file.
If I click on any of the Tabs, it immediately shuts down.
I have had this problem before, but when I clicked on the Read Only option,
it normally works.
This time it doesn't.
If I open a backup file, it works
Me again., I'm guessing you haven't applied for or setup an Alphavantage
api key - Edit >> Preferences >> online quotes since the following is the
result I get if I remove mine :-)
You need to go to https://alphavantage.co/support/#api-key and register for
a free account to get an api key then upd
Both work for me against the Aussie dollar and have been for yonks. What's
your locale/currency ?

Can you specify which API you are using for currency.
I have both Alpha Vantage and Yahoo Finance, and it works fine
