Ha very true, never noticed that before as I normally just save and quit,
or quit and click save on the prompt it displays. At first I couldn't
understand what you were discussing as it's greyed out on the chart of
accounts tab that I was on and is only active when you go to some other tab.

True, but quite a confusing point. Like the "unable to obtain a lock"
message, this is quite confusing
I have entered a buy of an ETF.
The ETF has done several annual Return of Capitals (which I entered).
I have entered a sell of all of the ETF.
I used the Actions: View Lots: Scrub Account to create the Capital gain.
The Capital gain calculated is wrong in that the Return of Capitals were
ignored.
Hello,
My version = 4.6 (Windows). I want to import a csv file with split
transactions. The following text lines from the csv file represent one
transaction (not real) that took place on 9/19/2021. This is a simplified
example. An actual transaction would likely have more splits. Column heads

I recently built 4.6 on Linux Mint 20.2 with no problems. The following commands
will list the installed packages. You need to have the development header
packages ".dev" (libaqbanking-dev and libgwenhywfar-core-dev)
installed to build the programs, not just the runtime binaries.

What do you mean by closing the Cash Ledger? There is usually an Accounts tab
which has the accounts tree displayed in it from which you can open a tab for a
specific account (usually referred to as an account register). Closing either of
those tabs should not cause the GnuCash program t

Save yourself a lot of time and effort and use the Flatpak version which is
also updated with each release - https://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/Flatpak

No :-) In your chart of accounts, select the account and click edit (or
right click and select edit), turn off Auto Interest Transfer ?

Greetings to you all!
I am facing a problem with closing and opening of the program. If I
try to close the "Cash" ledger, the program crashes and shows the
message "gnucash.exe has stopped working".
I found, once closed, that the LCK file is not deleted and

Hi John,
Thank you for sharing your insight. Indeed, I had altered the default Number of
Transactions setting under Preferences>Register Defaults — do not ask me how ;)
After reverting back to 0 Number of Transactions all accounts now show all
transactions, problem solved, thanks a bunch!

Simone,
I suggest you add more accounts.
For example, under Assets have Service Income, Pension Income, Bank
(Checking?). Cash, Savings, etc.
Under Expenses the types of expenses you incur.
