Hi all,
I'm a Gnucash newbie. Does Gnucash offer the ability to write online
payments, online bill payment directly within the Gnucash application from
my bank's checking account? And will the payments be automatically recorded
in the Gnucash ledger for the bank? If yes, how do I write an onl
I came accross this problem today after several years of using GNUCash with
files housed on Network drives (Not usually NAS but drives on other network
computers). In fact, I suspect but cannot be completely certain, that I have
never stored a GNUCash file on, or retreieved one from, a local drive.

I upgraded my operating system to a newer version of ubuntu. Now I'm on

This may be moot if average-balance will be hidden
I recently had a problem like this and discovered what was happening. I
also had a problem with reconcile apparently freezing. It turns out the
same thing fixed both. I raised the latter problem on this list and

Yes, it would be useful to know if you are using release 3.5 or close.
Also, if you recall any unusual circumstance during or immediately after
that SX session.
I think the only work-around would be to find the previous transaction
entry and copy it or force another entry by adjusting the SX setti
Nope. We only change dependencies in a major release, and anyway none of those
are new dependencies. Since Ubuntu has a GnuCash3 package already you should be
able to install all the dependencies with
sudo apt-get build-dep gnucash

The Average Balance report would seem to have merit in my mind, such as
tracking a portfolio over time, but I decided to test it to see what it's
capable of. In my testing, I found it can be rmostly eplicated by using the

Well, as a Mac user, you can run Gnucash from a terminal prompt and add the
switch, if that's what you want. In my 13 plus years of using Gnucash, I've
never needed these reports.

Wow, last time I built GC for Xenial I didn’t have to install all of that mess.
Was there a major change in dependencies between 3.1 and 3.5?

After reading the sections of the Guide David mentioned, and talking with a
local accountant, you’d probably start by booking the current inventory as
opening transactions. Anything acquired later would be booked between the

Steve,
Do you use any of these reports?
If not, then you won't suffer from the loss. The whole point of hiding these
reports is that they aren't generally used.

This bug proposes to remove a number of reports from the reports menu on the
assumption these reports are primarily demo's of what can be achieved in
gnucash, but have limited actual value. This is about the following reports:

On my GnuCash (3.5 on Win 7-64), sometimes I have to wait for reports and

The result is NOT a report with zeros, it's merely NO report at all. The page
