Reporting success building, installing and running GC 2.1.1. on
MacBookPro, using Fink with additionally installed latest version of
swig.
Managed to go through my regular ritual of importing OFX/QFX files
with no problem. Also played a bit with scheduling.
Only minor annoyance happens when

For some reason, when I try to build on MacBookPro, make wants to
generate ChangeLog using this file. If it is not present, the break
builds at the start. If I download it, the build continues.

I was able to fink install gnucash2 last night. I was running into
the mark_split warning beforehand.
