I found a PDF document titled "GnuCash Design Document" on the net @

As announced some time ago, I would like the 2.6 version of GnuCash to be
gconf-free. I have been working since to switch to gsettings.
Due to both having less time available as expected and it being more work than
I estimated, this is taking me longer than I hoped.

The previous release dates back to July 2012. Not that much has been going on
on stable, but there are a number of bugfixes waiting to be released. I have
read several suggestions from users that we're waiting too long to release

The nightly builds are broken again since March 10. I also cannot log into the
vmware virtual console to try to fix it. Derek...?
