Sure, that works, but I'm not sure I want to do that. I think I'd like it to

Well, a "loan" to your friend is more like an asset than an expense.
Similarly, a loan that you receive (e.g. a mortgage) is a liability,
not an income :)
I would recommend you change the account type to an asset; then, as

I want to write a little plugin to download transactions off the net
and stick them into gnucash. I'm thinking scheme is the way to do
it. But how do I get http access? Is there a scheme RFI for
http access? Or should I put the ghttp interface into gnc.gwp?

Personally, I would love to be able to just download QIF from Netbank
of Vanguard directly into GC. However I don't think I'll ever be able
to do so, because both of these sources require some QIF massaging
before GC will read it correctly (due to problems with Vanguard losing

Hi,
Just for verificaiton - which ofx are we referring to? There are two
very different formats for this standard. One based on XML (newest
version) and one based on SGML(the one most banks seem to be supporting
now).
Just wanted to know.

Sure, I can give you either QIF or OFX (or both). Which would you
prefer?

any of the Vanguard OFX handy to look it up for you, but I can grab

Try http://www.quickbooks.com/ and search for "iif" It gives 40 matches,
such as:
What is an IIF file?
What are IIF file headers?
What is the IIF file format for importing a
