On the side, initially just to see if it would work out OK, I started
converting our tree to automake. It turned out to take a lot less
time than I thought and works quite well. Our portablility should be
improved and automake definitely makes our build process a *lot* less
crufty. As a bonus,

Does anyone else using Solaris have libtool?
I don't have a Solaris development box in front of me at the moment, but
I'm not sure if we have it...?
Any ideas?

Well, mine can... My solaris 2.6 box is a little out of date, but libtool,
etc. aren't that hard to put in...
