That could well be because that decision is yet to be made. I don't know if
there is to be another bug fix release in 1.8 - there could be. AFAI
It's *too late* to target Debian sarge for things. The time to do
that was before sarge was frozen, months ago.
But it is plenty of time to target the next Debian release (etch).
