installing them according to David's instructions helped.
Fortunately, version 4.7 is still executable.

Fortunately, I was able to get version 4.7 to work again with 'sudo

As derek already said: you are using a system-installed gwenhywfar. You need to
check at aqbanking configure time that it really chose the correct
libgwenhywfar, and gnucash subsequently too.

it not only needs a Perl installation including XML::DOM, but also some word
list. On Linux this is available under /usr/share/dict/words (symlink to the
default language's word list), but for windows some other choice has to be
written into the
e of the script: Save your normal file in uncompressed form to XML file.
Then,
./obfuscate.pl inputfile.gnucash > outputfile.gnucash
(Contrary to the comments, the output is just written to stdout, not in-place
into the file.)

The field labeled *BU* in the yellow input area stands for

account. Maybe some of the file imports show this as well, but so far I didn't

Nevertheless thanks for the pointers about building on Ubuntu 14.04, I'll look
into this for the time being. I'd still like to have the 2.6 branch slightly
longer alive, though.
