So, it looks like (instead of building from source) the python bindings are
a patch to gnucash (http://savannah.nongnu.org/projects/python-gnucash).
Questions I have:
How does one apply this patch? Is it already included in the stable gnucash
release? and doesn't one need to install something on
That's true and in fact I checked other translations prior to commit and
found out that Latvian has a similar situation but the msgmft -c command
do not give me any error message for lv.po. So this looked strange to me!

Yes - gtk 2.18 is broken on Windows. But 2.20 might work. Someone just
needs to update our defaults.sh.
