Interesting. I wasn't sure what changes were necessary to get it to
import correctly. Anyhow, CCing this to the Moneydance mailing list (of
which I am not a subscriber)--maybe they can respond, or change their
QIF exporter?

The QIF sample you sent is malformed, unfortunately, and gnucash
doesn't have a chance of interpreting it the way you ask.
