due to upstart user sessions introduced in Ubuntu 13.10, they are
now in ~/.cache/upstart/gnome-session.log

release this would appear in ~/.cache/gdm/session.log.
Looking Glass still gives really incomplete information, with no log
messages, so this is still not helpi
