Michael, try to download gnome-speech 0.4.3
That includes several improvements to the Dectalk TTS driver.
And try to build the Orca 0.2.8 which fixes some issues with the punctuation
and Dectalk.

Generally speaking get the latest version. I believe I compiled
gnome-speech 0.4.02 and orca 0.26, and am using them on Ubuntu 6.06.
If you want the stock version of gnome-speech I believe 6.06 shipped
with gnome-speech 0.4.0.
