Hi all,
So what would be needed for making Dasher geared up for use with an IDE like Eclipse?
Would it not in fact be possible to achieve a lot by just producing a new learning text, with a suitable vocabulary for the statistical "prediction" function, and a tailored selection array including
Joanie and Christian,
These are both very good suggestions that I hope may create a foundation
for moving ahead with this.

Hi, I'd just want to express my opinion about this being a very important discussion, and to reinforce what Christian says about the problem with promoting free systems with major a11y shortcomings for public use. Here we hear about the remaining difficulties for VI screenreader users, though this

Hi Thanks both for this interesting information about the preconditions for graphics in IM! The XEP-0231specs look quite promising (to an amateur in the techy field, as I am)! Another question then: Is there any support currently for Ruby Annotation in any of these IM protocols? If not; Are ther
Hi Peter, Cesar and all, As Peter points out, and as I mentioned in my post in the gnome-accessibility list, the 'font track' for graphic symbols is a route to wider compatibility with existing protocols and formats. That's why we ended up transferring the symbol graphics to fonts, to allow symbol

Hi,I agree that it is absolutely essential to be able to control the position of the On-Screen Keyboard. Another rather straight-forward but efficient way to do this under the control of the user, is to provide key/button scripts that move the keyboard to different locations on the screen, e.g. top
Hi Ken and Matt,Note that the info in that BBC link is rather old and misleading. Dasher is no eye gaze software. It's an excellent alternative text input tool that may be used with any pointing device, including eye gaze, and a range of other input methods. The Inference group at Cambridge who are

I strongly support you on these points Steve:
Go for USB game as the primary source of switch input - as it's a
standard, but clearly separated from the basic keyboard and mouse input -
and good interface products - like the JoyCable - are there on the market.

Hi Ben,I have little insight in the schedules and procedures for adding things to a next Gnome release, but fully respect the need to limit the scope as you propose. Switch input and scanning are more complex issues than one would believe not having been messing with it. So it may well be wise to f

I strongly support this too.
It would smoothly remove one of the awkward issues presented to the user
when starting an application like GOK - and which we discussed eralier
this week.

This is a totally unmotivated interference in the basic system settings,
and in fact creates accessibility problems for people supporting the OSK
user. I regard this as being a design flaw that should be removed asap.
Any comments on this?
