Hello,
I am trying to get used to using gnome as much as possible since I find
much of it more accessible than windows.
I have a question though.
I have a dvd (actually an iso of a dvd), that has multiple chapters, and
I am trying to figure out how to play it and be able to select which
chapter I
orca as root, orca
says "welcome to orca" and stops talking altogether there is no way to recover
from this point.
Is there a trick to getting this to work?

Peter,
Your answer makes a lot of sense. I will "scrap" OEL for now and go to a more

Hello,
I am running fedora core 6, and have installed both the swift 3.3.0 and
dectalk 4.6.1 voices onto the system.
I can get both synthesizers to work from the command line.
I downloaded the gnome-speech-0.4.7.tar.gz file from ftp.gnome.org, and

If i use another user, I get the message:

Hello,
I just build the gnome desktop using garnome 2.12.2.1, and made sure the
gnome-speech and gnopernicus were built.
When I run test-speech in the gnome/bin directory, I get the initial "select
speech server" screen, but when I select 1 for festival, and press
the program says "attempting

you using?

When I view the make log, I see that the dectalk synthesizer is built, but when
I run test-speech, the dectalk is not listed.
