Well, maybe the edgy cd would work for me; the feisty one wouldn't. As I
recall the edgy livecd wouldn't boot on this computer.
At any rate, there are some instances I've seen online of people migrating
from debian to ubuntu via apt-get. that doesn't mean it is now possible
necessarily but appa
This might be better asked on a ubuntu list but i wasn't sure. I was afraid
ubuntu-users might not understand the problems of braille/speech.
But i know this is more a ubuntu issue than a gnome issue. So if this is too

Thank you so much!!! I had to try it a couple of times to get the
timing right but this work so splash is the problem. But as long as
there's a reasonably easy way to get aroun it, I have no problem.
Thrilled to be able to use edgy!!!

I'm noticing that brltty appears to be in /sbin on ubuntu. As the
default installation for brltty has been in /bin for some time now,
I'm wondering if there's a reason for the /sbin placement.

I do know the prolific usb cable can be a bit flaky with the Mac so
may have to get a keyspan.
After looking at your post further though, you are talking about the

Just to clarify:
I do have debian unstable libgnome-speech3 and libgnome-speech3-dev

These two issues may be related so I'm discussing them both in the

I am totally puzzled about this. Dapper Drake boots fine on my main

Ok,; here are the results of my latest attempt on the mac with the
ubuntu live cd.
First of all, if you leave the cd alone it will indeed boot all the

I'm getting really good at restarting gdm, logging in, doing alt-f2

I have encountered the same error that Jason White reported in debian

Thanks Remus.
I don't think you are supposed to have to set the port for brltty.
I can check my brlapi.key permissions and see if that helps.

Hi.
No, your assumption is incorrect: I'm using gentoo, and currently it
doesn't have a /etc/init.d/gdm connection; am working on figuring that

You said it would change to user gdm; so what do I do at the beep; do I
type gdm for user; if so, do I need a password?

Ok kenny, but if accessibility isn't enabled yet, am I even going to be
able to read the dialog box. Can I still use gconftool-2 to do that
beforehand. and don't I need to set up for brltty beforehand with
gconftool also?
Thanks.

Hi all.
I am once again going to attempt to set up gnopernicus. can anybody tell
me if there's a link to follow to find the most recent procedures for
setting up gnopernicus. I will primarily be using braille with brltty,
although I may also include speech.
Thanks.
