Hi all,
I am attempting to test the Zod live CD and have a few questions.
First, I am able to boot the disk and run Orca. After Orca completes its
initial setup, it is necessary to logout of gnome and then log back in. At
this point, I'm pressing control alt backspace to restart the GDM. I'm
Hi all,
I've noticed that by default in Feisty, the administration menu seems to be
gone, and all of the functions it contained can now be accessed via the
gnome-control-center. My concern is that unless I'm missing something,
there doesn't seem to be a way to navigate the control-center UI ef
Hi all,
I am working with two machines running Edgy. One is a 4 year old desktop
with an antique sound blaster live, probably dating back to the late 90s.
the other is a 1 year old IBM ThinkPad T43 with SoundMax integrated audio.
I have ESD enabled on both systems. I'm finding that when I att
Hi all,
It would actually be extremely cool to have this functionality available
from anywhere on the desktop. I know that at least one Windows screen
reader offers the ability to "virtualize" any window. The contents of that
window can then be browsed, selected or copied using standard docu

Hi all,
I'm running Edgy with Gnome 2.15, and am experiencing major weirdness in
terms of accessibility when attempting to use it with Orca.
Some of the issues I've noticed are as follows:
1. Focus in gaim seems to be messed up. I was able to create one account,
a freenode irc account. But n
Hello Christian,
To permanently enable root login to gnome under Debian, edit the
/etc/gdm/gdm.conf file.
In the [security] section of the file, add the following line:
AllowRoot=True
After doing this, you need to reboot or just restart the gdm for the change
to take effect.
Hope this helps,
Hi,
I had a similar experience with the fonix site when I attempted to purchase
the 4.64 linux runtime about a week or so ago.
At that time, I contacted a person at Fonix, who gave me the direct URL to
the 4.64 linux RT purchase page. He also indicated that he would pass the

Hi Thomas,
I use DECtalk 4.64 myself, and have used 4.61 in the past, but have never
had experience with version 5. Having said that though, the reason I bought
4.64 was that my perception was that some users didn't care for the speech

Hello Jacob,
I'm not sure exactly what is causing this behavior, but if you were to run

Hi all,
I'm trying to create a desktop icon. From what I understand, the way to do
so is to right click on a blank part of the desktop; However, the problem
I'm experiencing is that focus always seems to land on an icon; therefore, I

Hi all,
I'm noticing a weird issue in FedoraCore5 that I'm wondering whether anyone
can verify?
It appears that the ability to manipulate slider controls via the keyboard
is broken. This doesn't seem to be a screen reader specific problem, as it
occurs with both Gnopernicus and Orca. I initi
Hi,
Just wondering if anyone is aware of any good accessible, gui based package
management tools for FC5? Pup works well enough in terms of downloading
updates, but I would ideally like to see something that would allow browsing
of packages in similar fashion to synaptic. I can't yum install
there, where as the installer will replace the default version
of mozilla currently living on your system.
Good luck,

Hi Lorenzo,
actually, the latest Bon Echo alpha versions of Firefox will yield better
results than the sun accessibility version.
You can download the most current Bon Echo nightly build from here:

Hi all,
Those of you using Ubuntu with a screen reader may have noticed the issues
inherent in gaining access to any of the gui based administration tools that
require the use of sudo.
This issue will currently impact users of any gnome screen reader, but one

Hi all,
Just wondering what would need to happen in order to get Orca officially
added as part of the desktop, and to ultimately have it become the default
screen reader for the gnome environment?
I understand that gnome 2.14 was just released, and that Orca itself is

Hello Garry,
I have also been testing with VMware, as well as real boxes, running Fedora

one interesting point is that I am seeing the exact same issue you are

is the case. I

Hi all,
I just did a fresh install over telnet of the release version of FC5.
After the install completed, I immediately found myself at a text login

I decided to test the sylpheed email client, version 2.0.4 with Orca.
Sylpheed seems to be a very nice, lightweight email solution, and would

the display of a caret.

Hi all,
I tried building from the source as Thomas suggested.
The configure process seemed to work and the make ran for about 20

I'm not sure what that means or how to proceed at this point.
Thanks in advance for any thoughts,

so, could someone please provide any relevant URLs?
