1. (cd ~/foo && git status)
git --git-dir=~/foo/.git --work-dir
This is similar in spirit to to "make -C dir ..." and "tar -C dir ...".
Currently finding out the status of a git repository that is located
away from the current working directory without going to that directory
can be done in the following ways:
1. (cd ~/foo && git status)
2. git --git-
