[Gimp-user] Static builds for Debian Etch?

My first Gimp project - make a menu with four different layers, one text, one colored page, a fuzzy border and a clear background. I printed it and loved it. Then I saved it as an XCF file. Now when I open it in The Gimp, it only has one layer. Can I get the original four back, and if s
