(www.xnview.com) seems more adapt for batch
Anyway in this case a Gimp plugin called DBP (David Batch Processor) should
solve

I have folders containing varying numbers of photos or varying sizes.
I need to make thumbnails of all photos: all to have a of height 150
pixels, widths will vary, GIMP to scale width to the height. This is
time consuming to do one at time. How can GIMP do this in batches?
