I'm trying to figure out IF and How the Gimp can perform a crop/
resize task which Photoshop can?
This task is: in Photoshop, I can set Crop Tool dimensions, and when
I drag in an image, the marquee will be that aspect ratio. When I
finalize the crop, Photoshop will either crop down to those
When I open tiff files (and perhaps other formats) I get the image,
plus a tiny thumbnail of that image on its own layer, right up to the
top left of the image!
is this a feature? if so, how can it be de-activated?

I have a bunch of images in .psd format (native photoshop) but which
GIMP won't open, giving me this message:
"Gimp Message
Opening /[image path]/image.psd failed:
Plug-in could not open image"
Plug in? I'm almost 100% sure I've used Gimp to both open and write
psd files before..any sugg
I use Gimp on OS X (Tiger) in an X11 windowing environment. haven't
used gimp in a few weeks, and today I get a dialogue box with a
progress bar when I launch Gimp:
"The operation cannot be completed because the item "cache-fonts" is
in use"
this thing never clears and gimp never becomes
Does the Gimp enable one to create duotones? I searched and search
and found nothing..
is it called a different name? I know that duotones are an old-school
photography technique and one that did not originate on the computer.
