I want to know if wacom bamboo pen tablet (the one that costs only $69) works
well with GIMP. Im using windows xp.

I often get bands when I create gradients.
I'd like to know how this happends and how I can reduce or get rid of these
artifacts entirely.

In short, you decompose to LAB. You monkey with the A and B channels, then
use curves on L. Finally, you recompose.
One issue is that you have to copy the resulting A1 and B1 channel
