The main problem I see is you are using variables in the binding portion

I have been stuggling with this task for a while myself. When you clever
ones nut it out, please publish a "Fade an Image to transparent" and "fade
an image to white" tutorial "for complete idiots" (aka me)

Looking through my Home directory I noticed that, in addition to a
folder .gimp-2.6 there are .gimp-2.2, gimp-2.3 and gimp-2.4. Would it be
a wise move to delete the 2.2, 2.3 and 2.4 gimp folders?
