They both look pale on my Linux driven monitor. It sounds like you are hitting a gamma issue. I -think- the Mac uses a gamma of 1.8 where as Linux and Windows is usually set to a gamma of 2.2.You might check out this site and see if it helps: http://www.normankoren.com/makingfineprints1A.html#gamma
