Quanta+ is the best PHP IDE I've tried this far - PHPEclipse was pretty nice,
but since I couldn't open non local files, I used Quanta+.
gPHPEdit is pretty nice also, but a bit minimal :-)

I use KDE 3.4.1 with hald and dbus started - and when I plug my usb based
mp3-mplayer in, KDE takes care of the mounting etc, and a device icon pops up
on my desktop...
It's really, really nice!
Same functionality with the DVD-reader and the CD-recorder when I insert a
disc... :-)

It was a typo from my side - the package's name is hal, while the service you
start is named hald.
ie,
emerge hal -av
Good luck :-)

Last time I tried f-spot it crashed on me, it didn't matter what versions of
f-spot and mono I ran... :(
It might have been a User Error (tm)... :-)

I've been looking for something similar (using KMail), but I haven't found
anything :-(
I'll send you an email if I found something... :-)

I think gnome-terminal only can handle xft-fonts (and that's probably a
feature)...
Have you considered trying some older (and not so user friendly) terminal?
rxvt, xterm, urxvt and aterm are all pretty nice, memory efficent and fast,
and you can do everything in them that you could in gnome-term
Hello everyone :)
I'm currently at work (in a drug store, or whatever it's called in english (: ), using a "public" computer, and I don't think I dare to download and run putty on this machine...
So I'm out looking for a web based ssh client, like a package I can put on a webserver, and run whene
I think lighttpd might be something like what you're looking for.
It's pretty lightweight, fast enough and php/ruby/perl works with it (through
fastCGI).

And of course it's in portage :)

Take a look at this file:
/etc/fonts/local.conf
You can turn on / off the font hinting / whatever from there.
There are a few nice font tutorials over at gentoo-wiki.com if you're intrested.
I can't help you with the GDM-part, tho :(On 8/14/05, Chris Boot <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote:

Why are you using some external program when there is a superb support for
keybindnings in kwin?
Everything you need for keybindings is avalible in kcontrol :)

Add -R to your DHCP_OPTS in /etc/conf.d/net and dhcp started using the
init-system wont override your resolv.conf :)

Is the disc activity there constantly, or just after you logged in?
How much ram does your machine have? Anything you have done to your hardware
since upgrading to 3.4?
