Hi,
another problem which did exist before the bug in eix...
After
emerge --color=n --verbose --update --deep world
I get a list of new/updatable package. And I got blocking packages as
well.
I (think to) know, what "blocked" means, but this:
[blocks B ] kde-base/kdebase-kioslaves:3.5

Hi Alan,
thanks for teh info and the link...
One short question:
Is this process a long process which needs interaction
of the user often or is it a long process, when prepared
compiles/does things alone for a long time (so I can start the whole
thing for a nightly run...)
Have a nice sunday! :

Hi,

Thank you Justin and >>Q<<.
I will give a try this night.
Hi,
some time ago kdm was updated and after that it would not start
automagically at boot time as it done before, cause the /etc/init.d/kdm-
scritp fails.
I think the place were DISPLAYMANAGER is set, has been changed.
The docs I saw spoke of the places, where it is set before kdm
fails to start
For some reason I don't get USERDIR working on my amd64 box.
Below is attached the output from
/etc/init.d/apache2 dumpconfig
Sorry for the aborted send a few minutes ago.
For some reason I am not getting USERDIR on amd64.
Attached below is the output of /etc/init.d/apache2 configdump
The trouble is apparently early in the output
/usr/sbin/apache2 started with '-D DEFAULT_VHOST -D INFO -D LANGUAGE -D MANUAL
-D SSL -D
On my x86 system there is -D USERDIR.
And what's on your /etc/conf.d/apache2 ?
This message was sent using IMP, the Internet Messaging Program.
What is the correct place to set DISPLAYMANAGER?
/etc/conf.d/xdm

After an urgent inquiry re my health from a friend, I discovered
that e-mails had not been getting out of my machine for 7 days .
I tracked the problem down to a change in /etc/group
when I updated Ssmtp 2.61-r2 -> 2.62-r3 :
there's a new entry 'ssmtp', which needs to be enabled for ''.
